There were many tyrannical leaders In world history , and this was true for Russia as Well. And in Russian history there were rulers lake Ivan the Ternble and Peter the Great who sent Many people to their graves because Of their despotic character and lot there lust for power. In the 10th century there was a communist ruler of Russia who developed its industries and the military and at the same time punished and killed his opponents In such a cruel manner his name became synonymous with the word the 'Cruel Dictator"
This 'Cruel Dictator' was Joseph Stalin Stalin was born to a Georgian family in Russia and his real name was Vissarion Djugashvilli. The name by which he was known was Stalin which means 'the man of steel" He spent his childhood in Southern Europe Stalin was doted upon by his mother who called him
"Soso" It shoutd be noted that his mother was one of the few in Russia who was able to speak against Stalin's cruelty to his face!
Stalin liked to read books and later entered a theological seminary. Although he received good grades from his teachers. Stalin later grew fond of revolutionary activities and read books by Marx. The teachers one day found revolutionary books in his room and they expelled Stalin for indiscipline.
Stalin later joined an underground revolutionary group and sided with the Bolshevik faction of the Russian Social-Democratic Workers Party in 1903. He later became a follower or Vladimir Lenin and later appointed to the Bolshevik Central committee in 1912. He Was later exited to Siberia which was described by Stalin as the happiest period of his life! He returned to Russia in 1917. Bolshevik party members named him "Koba"
Stalin was also instrumental in carrying out a series of bank robberies in order to find money for the political activities of the Bolsheviks, which was abhorred by other Bolsheviks including Lenin.During 1917-23 he served asCommissar for Nationalities and for state control in the Bolshevik Government. When Lenin died in 1924, Stalin became the ruler of Russia. He later consolidated his position as a dictator by overcoming nil rivals including Rykov. Trotsky, Bucharin and others
In 1928 Stalin initiated his first five year plan, which brought Russia both glory and suffering Some historians say that the Industrialization of Russia during Stalin's time was the fastest in history During 1930's because of his methods at developments, millions at People starved to death These casualties include the 'Kulak' farmers in Ukraine. who were the relatively rich peasant farmers, who defied Stalin's laws of collective Ownership. They were later killed by the orders of Stalin. It is also said that nearly 30 million deaths happened in Russia due to intentional famine that Stalin initiated.
In 1930's Stalin signed a non-aggression treaty with Hitler. Later when Hitler invaded Russia. Stalin refused to acknowledge this and locked incased up in his room Because of this the Russians were unnecessarily killed as Stalin as the ruler did not order any retaliation. Later Stalin dismissed the military plans or Georgi Zhukov and insisted that his own military plans should be implemented. These plans were not very successful but later the Russian army inflicted heavy casualties on the Germans notably at Stalingrad in 1943, which was a turning point in WWII,
The Russians under the political leadership of Stalin annexed parts of Eastern Europe and implemented the defeat of Germany and its leader Hitler. It should be noted that in the late 1940'S Stalin had a secret plan to invade Western Europe as the most of the European countries were incapacitated by War.
In1941, Stalin commented "History shows that there are no4 invincible armies and never have been. Napolean's army was considered invincible but it was beaten successively by Russia, English and German armies. The same must be said of Hitler's German facisist army today"
